Tasty Thursdays-Nibbles Edition!

Tasty Thursdays is a weekly blog challenge where you get to think back on your week and pick the tastiest thing you ate.  It can be for any meal, homemade or store-bought.  Feel free to share a picture, a recipe, or where you got it from!

Years ago, my former mother-in-law told me their family’s favorite snack: cheese dip.  Over the years, I’ve refined it into something completely different from the original recipe that she told to me.  This past week, I tried another variation of the recipe, and loved it!  Here’s the variation:

1 lb Velveeta Sharp Cheddar flavor, cubed

2 tablespoons butter

7 tablespoons milk

1 small can of Preferred brand of canned chili or 1 1/2 cup homemade chili

1 roll Hot flavor ground sausage, cooked and crumbled

Ortega Thick and Smooth Medium flavor Taco Sauce, to taste

Cook the sausage until well browned and drain.  In a large sauce pan over Medium-low heat, melt the butter, coating the bottom of the pan as it melts.  Once completely melted, add the cubed Velveeta, stirring continuously.  Add milk if sauce gets too thick.  Once the Velveeta is melted, add the chili and ground sausage, mixing well.  Add Taco Sauce to taste and enjoy with Corn Chips or Tortilla Chips!
