This is my first read by Ms. Schiller and I really wasn’t sure what I was getting into with it, but I thought it sounded a bit mysterious, so I decided to give it a shot. Unfortunately, I was really bored with most of the book, to the point where I had to force myself to keep reading it.
I had a hard time connecting with the characters overall, which wasn’t helped by the alternating point of view. I got confused about who was speaking more often than not! I did get a good connection out of the animal rescue scenes more than any other part of the book, which I don’t think was the author’s intention! Emma seemed more like a high school student, than a former college one, so I kept having to remind myself of her situation. Aiden’s mystery just didn’t captivate me like it should have.
All things considered, I’m not that impressed by the author’s work and will likely avoid it in the future.
